Relative Contributions of Band Members
In the studio Deborah Page writes the lyrics for the songs. In most cases, Deborah Page writes the rhythm portion of the song's melody. Deborah Page is the song generator of the band. All songs begin with Deborah Page. Deborah Page does the vocals and plays the 12-string acoustic guitar. Occasionally, Deborah Page will play a 6-string guitar or the bass. Throughout the song writing process, Deborah Page provides input as to how the individual elements of the song should be. The Drums, the bass, the piano, etc. Even though she does not usually play these instruments, she is there to oversee and ultimately has the final say on how a song will sound.
During a live performance, Deborah Page sings the songs, and plays the 12-string and 6-string rhythm guitar.
In the studio Paul Uhl provides a sort of a "director/producer" guidance, initially. Deborah Page brings a new song to the table and Paul Uhl looks for the bumps in the road... the hiccups... ensuring a nice flow, an even tone, and a well balanced structure. When recording a song, Paul Uhl plays the lead electric guitar. Paul Uhl also, for a lack of other band members, plays the bass, drums, piano, keyboard, etc. Paul Uhl writes the lead guitar riffs and all of the bass, drum, piano, and keyboard parts. Paul Uhl runs the recording equipment. Paul Uhl and Deborah Page do all of their own editing, mixing, and mastering.
During a live performance, Paul Uhl is primarily the lead electric guitar player. Paul Uhl also plays the bass on some of the songs and runs the equipment for the backing tracks and controls the show's lighting.
